On my blog today is fellow romance author, Ryleigh Sloan. Let's dive right in and find out more about Ryleigh and her love for romance - and rockstars.
Tell us about yourself and where you are in your writing career?
My name is Ryleigh Sloan, I live in South Africa with my husband, our girls and our fur-babies. I love music and am currently obsessed with listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I've just published my fifth book on November first, and am about to dive into a dark anthology which is exciting.
What is the name of your book and what inspired it?
Risky Rockstar is the title of my latest release. It was inspired by the Cocky Hero titles. They prefer we use two word titles that describe our books and Risky Rockstar fit that scope.
Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?
I absolutely adore romance. I love seeing stories come to life. In real life, misunderstandings often create struggles in relationships and I love reading about how people fight their way through the bad in the name of love. So I wanted to write inside a genre I love.
What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning this book?
It depends on my books, for my romantic suspence novel, The Dark Side Of Chemistry, I did a ton of research about the military and San Diego in order to get a proper feel for the book. I'd say I spent a good three months researching, but I did that as I went along.
How do you select the names of your characters?
Sometimes I use a name I really like, other times the characters whisper their names to me and then I check baby name sites if I'm stuck.
How do you like to collect and organise your ideas?
I love to write things in notebooks.
How long did it take you to write this book?
It took me four months to write Risky Rockstar, five years to write, The Dark Side Of Chemistry, (I did take a break during writing though) and Back Beat, my Rockstar romance took me under a month.
What's next for you as a writer?
Next up is my short story, Ensnared, for the Dark anthology and then I'm back to writing about steamy rockstars.

Ryleigh Sloan is a romance author with a masters degree in being an indecisive control freak. Her favorite pastime is driving her friends crazy by writing multiple books at once.
Following the advice of established authors to read, read, read in order to hone one's craft she does just that and engrosses herself in as many romance novels as she can get her hands on. Her bad habit of writing more than one book at a time carries over to her reading and she can be found reading, and listening to multiple titles at once and enjoying every moment.
